Revolver
The creation of the revolver emerged as a side project while I was developing my 3D environment skills. The reason why I decided to create a revolver is the fact that it is a simple project with distinct yet straightforward shapes which could help me to improve and refine my skills as well as explore even more tools.
Externally, the revolver appears realistic, apart from two issues: the black handle lacks any texture, and the sight's connection with the barrel is not seamless. Internally, the UV maps are flawed and misaligned, causing complications with polygon arrangement that interferes with optimal functioning and proper texture application.
If I were to do this project again, I would first use Quad draw to rectify broken and poorly constructed polygons. This correction would allow me to facilitate smoother UV map editing and seamless texture application, making the revolver asset adaptable for integration into various games or environments efficiently.
After looking back on this project, I can say that it has taught me the importance of UV mapping and creating efficient polygons contributing to both functional efficiency and aesthetic appeal in future projects.
